Some Jackson residents asked to conserve water this week
News

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The City of Jackson Water/Sewer Utilities Division has issued a Precautionary Water Conservation Notice for city residents and businesses south of Interstate 20 from the Pearl River to Highway 18 and the Greater Jackson Industrial Park.

This is for customers served by the surface water system. Customers on the well water system are not affected.

Residents and businesses in the affected area are asked to conserve water as much as possible this week to ensure adequate water pressure, city officials said in a statement.

City crews identified a waterline break on Interstate 55 near the Daniel Lake Boulevard exit that is causing some loss of pressure in the water system.

The city will only issue a boil water notice if water pressure drops below 20 psi.

Mayor Johnson has signed an emergency order to hire contractors to repair the line. Parts are being flown in from Chicago for this repair. Once the parts arrive, contractors should make the repair within 24 hours.

For more information, customers should call 311 or 601-960-2723 during business hours or 601-960-1777 (or 601-960-1875) after 5 p.m.
